The car is a '91 which I have owned since about 2002. It's been through a lot of constant changes since I first got it, which they didn't fully get into in the article. They completely skipped the fully built race motor and in fact, since this photoshoot (which was done a while back) the car has seen quite a few more changes; among them a full APR GT spoiler and a revised tune putting out 600 wheel hp.

As far as which is the best year NSX, it really depends on what you intend to do. If you want more of a track style car and plan to modify the car heavily, I highly recommend a '91 or '92. They are the lighest models by far as well as the least expensive. They still have non-powered steering so it has great road feel but loses some luxury touches. I would avoid the '95-'96 because they are heavier because they added the "T" top feature. However, the chassis and engine are the same as the '91-'92 so they are slower and have more body flex.

If you are going to turbo the 3.0L engine of the '91 to '92 engine will be fine. However, if you plan on keeping it N/A you may want to consider the '97+ where they switched to the 3.2L engine. If you are looking for something more refined, the '02+ models upgraded some cosmetic effects (liked the fixed headlights vs. flip ups), but are a bit more expensive. You should be able to get a moderate milage '91 for around $25K, but the '02+ will be more than double that.

I think everyone should watch this video. I see so many people (mainly on the forums) make fun of "failure" without realizing it spawns sucess. After seeing this, they will think twice on using the term "Fail".
